MAPS Design was founded in 1996 by principals Tan Hock Beng and Maria Hartati, becoming a global design practice with offices in Singapore and Bangkok. MAPS Design's portfolio has always been broad based in its geographic breadth. It has earned an international reputation for its ability to generate thought provoking design solutions for its discriminating clientele from vastly varied cultural contexts. The firm provides comprehensive architectural and interior design services for many project types, with a keen emphasis in hospitality design. It currently has about 25 high profile hospitality projects ranging from resorts to urban hotels under way in many parts of the world, including Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, The Philippines, Taiwan, Tokyo, China, India, Middle East, Maldives, Seychelles, Spain, London and Hawaii. The firm works with luxury hotel brands like W, St Regis, Sheraton, Park Hyatt, JW Marriott, Intercontinental and Crowne Plaza. These projects have been widely published in various international journals and exhibited in different countries and venues including Tokyo, Costa Rica, and the prestigious Venice Biennale in Venice.
